Public Speaking Can be Beneficial to People

Public speaking is a common source of stress for everyone. Many of us would like to avoid this problem entirely, but this is hard to do. Whether we work alone or with large numbers of people, eventually we will need to speak in public to get certain tasks accomplished. And if we want to be leaders or achieve anything meaningful in our lives, we will often need to speak to groups, large and small, to be successful.
Most people go their whole lives without having to address large crowds or speak to a group of people publicly, and they consider themselves lucky. Sometimes people have to speak at family events like funerals or weddings, and they absolutely dread doing so. Many people simply fear having to speak in public at all no matter the reason, and for the average person this may be just fine. However, people who have the ambition to do great things in life usually have to speak in public at least a few times. Public speaking is unavoidable for ambitious people, whether the goal is some sort of public office orposition, or they need to address their company as a leader. Typically any good leader has absolutely no problem with addressing the public, or any large group. However, people in a lesser position in life, or those with less ambition can still benefit from speaking in public. There are many instances where public speaking can be beneficial to just about anyone at any time.
One of the major benefits of public speaking is the exposure of one's self to their community, this can be a great thing in many ways. By exposing one's self to the community, a speaker can gain friends, influence, business, and much more! Whenever there is a situation that is of importance going on in any community the people need leadership, and those that offer wisdom or meaningful plans are the ones who are met with admiration and respect. Even the simplest reasons for public gathering, or the smallest gatherings can offer all sorts of opportunity for an individual. A community board meeting about roads or safety can have future business partners or friends waiting to be spoken to, or a school gathering may have your future relationship interest attending. You may never get the chance to meet such opportunities by just being another member of the large crowd. Having your voice heard by many just may be the only way to reach these people. If you are reasonably intelligent and have something to say then you should speak out, if at all possible. Another great benefit of speaking in public is exposing your business or work to the community, though it may not be the topic at hand, it will eventually come up when talking to the people later on. Sometimes when the people talk amongst themselves, the topic of your place of business or the work you are doing may come up. Surely you do not need to be reminded of the benefit of 'word of mouth' advertising, as it is one of the best forms of advertising in general. The bottom line is simple, you can always benefit from exposure to the public.
