Veronis Suhler Stevenson recently valued the sector at as much as $2.5 billion in 2009, while traditional outdoor experiences its first major revenue declines in decades.
A company can have a state of the art, top of the line product or service, but without an excellent advertising campaign, they will not yield high profits and be able to stay in business for very long. Marketing and gaining a following is the key to a successful business. The internet helps businesses take part in out of home marketing. Out of home marketing may consist of sending e-mails with product information, using social media like Facebook, and Twitter to gain a following, or doing some online advertising. Out of home marketing may also consist of creating a company website and updating blogs. While the internet is a great way to reach many people, some people do not even use computers. It is important to find a way to reachout to people that do not use media. Mobile truck advertising is the new rage.
Advertisements can be done through the use of a tour trailer that pulls around valuable company information. Sometimes advertising trucks have giant billboards attached to them. The billboards can be scrolling and lit up to get even more attention. Mobile truck advertising has a much higher success rate than traditional marketing. It has been estimated that 98% of people recall the information that they see on a tour trailer. When the general public recalls the information, they are more likely to buy the products or to use the services. Connie Garrido, president of Chrysalis, is prepping a multimillion-dollar shift of TV dollars into digital out of home for Schering-Plough, and has met with more than two dozen media companies to determine partners with the most scale.
